This morning, we focused on the goodness of light and how God separated it from the darkness. Now, let's consider how God views the light. "God saw the light"—He looked at it with satisfaction and pleasure, recognizing that it "was good." If God has given you light, He looks on it with special interest. It is dear to Him as His creation and because it reflects His nature, for "He is light." As believers, it is comforting to know that God watches over the work of grace He has begun in us. He never forgets the treasure He placed in our fragile lives.
Sometimes we can't see the light ourselves, but God always sees it. It's more important that He sees our innocence than for us to perceive it ourselves. Knowing I'm one of God's people is reassuring, but whether I feel it or not, if God knows it, I am secure. This truth stands: "The Lord knows those who are His." Even if you wrestle with sin or feel overwhelmed by darkness, God sees the "light" in your heart because He put it there. Nothing can hide that light from His kind gaze.
You may be struggling with despair, but if your soul longs for Christ and you're seeking rest in His finished work, God sees the "light." Not only does He see it, but He also safeguards it. "I, the Lord, do keep it." This is reassuring for those who feel powerless despite their efforts to guard themselves. The light preserved by His grace will grow to the brightness of noonday and the fullness of glory. The light within is the dawn of the eternal day.
Closing Prayer
God, as we end this day, help us trust You fully, even when the path isn't clear. In Jesus' name, Amen.
