The love of Christ in its sweetness, fullness, greatness, and faithfulness surpasses all human understanding. How can we find words to describe His unmatched love for us? It's so vast that even our best attempts at description only skim the surface, while unimaginable depths remain. As the poet said, "O love, you fathomless abyss!" Indeed, Christ's love is beyond measure.

To grasp the love of Jesus, we need to recognize His majestic glory before His incarnation and the depth of His humiliation on Earth. But who can truly speak of Christ's majesty? In heaven, He was true God from true God. He created the heavens and upheld the universe. Cherubim and seraphim praised Him continuously, with all creation singing hallelujah at His throne.

He reigned supreme, God over all, blessed forever. Yet, who can describe His descent? Being human was one thing, but being a man of sorrows was far more. To bleed, suffer, and die was so much for the Son of God. But to endure such agony, a shameful death, and the Father's abandonment is a depth of love we cannot fully understand. Here is love that truly "passes knowledge." Let this love fill us with gratitude and lead us to live it out.

Closing Prayer

Father, help us trust You completely, even when the way is unclear. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
