April 24

There are many times in our lives when it is good and right to renew our covenant with God. When we recover from illness, like Hezekiah, and receive more years to live, it's a fitting time. After He delivers us from trouble and joy returns, let's revisit the cross and renew our dedication. Especially, after we've sinned and grieved the Holy Spirit or brought dishonor to God's name, let's seek the cleansing blood that makes us whiter than snow and offer ourselves to the Lord once more.

Don't let only troubles deepen our commitment to God. Our blessings should do the same. If we experience moments that are truly remarkable, shouldn't we crown God who has crowned us? Let's present all the treasures of our heart and let God reign in our love, dressed in His royal attire.

If we learn from our blessings, we won't need as much hardship. If we draw good from God's gifts, we wouldn't need to feel His discipline as often. Have you received an unexpected blessing? Has God enlarged your life? Can you sing of multiplied mercies? Then today, let's bind ourselves to the altar, saying, "Bind me here, God, bind me forever." As we seek new promises from God, let's renew our prayers so our old commitments remain honored. Let's make a firm covenant with Him today, mindful of the suffering Jesus endured for us this past month.

Closing Prayer

Lord, as we begin this day, anchor our hope in Your unchanging promises. We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.
