Wisdom is our true strength. Under its guidance, we accomplish what we were made for. When we handle life wisely, we find the richest joy and the noblest use of our powers—this is how we find good in the fullest sense.

Without wisdom? We're like a wild donkey's colt, running here and there, wasting strength that could accomplish great things. Wisdom is the compass we need to navigate the trackless wasteland of life. Without it, we're a derelict vessel, the sport of winds and waves.

You must be prudent in a world like this, or you'll find no good—you'll be betrayed into unnumbered evils! The pilgrim who doesn't watch his step will sorely wound his feet on the thorns along life's path. If you're traveling through bandit-infested wilderness, you'd better handle matters wisely if you want to journey safely.

But if we're trained by the Great Teacher—if we follow where He leads—we will find good even in this dark abode. There are celestial fruits to pick this side of Eden's bowers! There are songs of paradise to sing amid the groves of earth!

But where can this wisdom be found? Many have dreamed of possessing it but come up empty. Where do we learn it? Listen to the voice of the Lord! He has declared the secret. He has revealed to the sons of men where true wisdom lies, and we have it right here in the text: "Whoever trusts in the Lord, happy is he."

The true way to handle any matter wisely is to trust in the Lord. This is your sure clue through life's most intricate labyrinths. Follow it, and find eternal bliss! The one who trusts in the Lord has a diploma for wisdom granted by inspiration—happy is he now, and happier shall he be above.

Lord, in this sweet evening hour, walk with me in the garden. Teach me the wisdom of faith.

Closing Prayer

Whatever complex situation you're navigating tonight, remember: the wisest thing you can do is trust the One who sees the end from the beginning.
