Paul's profound expression shows that Christ is the source of our life. "You He has made alive who were dead in trespasses and sins." The same voice that called Lazarus from the tomb has brought us to new life. He is the substance of our spiritual life. It's through His life that we live. He's in us, the hope of glory, driving all our actions and thoughts.
Christ sustains our life. What else can a Christian rely on but Jesus' flesh and blood? "This is the bread that comes down from heaven, that a person may eat and not die." Pilgrims through this wilderness of sin, we find true satisfaction only in Him. Christ is our comfort.
All true joy comes from Him, and in trouble, His presence consoles us. There's nothing worth living for apart from Him. His lovingkindness is better than life. Christ is the purpose of our life. Just as a ship races toward the port, we hasten towards the embrace of our Savior.
As an arrow flies to its target, so we move towards a deeper fellowship with Christ. Like a soldier fights for his captain and shares in his victory, we fight for Christ and find triumph in His triumphs. "For to live is Christ." Christ is our example. Where there's His life within, there will be, inevitably, similar developments externally. Living closely with Jesus, we'll grow to be like Him.
We aim to follow His steps, setting Him as our divine example, until He becomes the crown of our life in glory. How safe, honored, and happy is the Christian, because Christ is our life!
Closing Prayer
Lord, as the day begins, help us trust You fully, even when the path isn't clear. Through Christ our Lord, Amen.
