August 16

God's glory shines through His nature and actions. He is inherently glorious, full of holiness, goodness, and love. His deeds also reflect this glory. While He shows His goodness, mercy, and justice through His actions, the glory belongs solely to Him.

We have nothing in ourselves to boast about. Who makes us different from others? Everything we have comes from God. We must walk humbly with Him. If we glorify ourselves, we become rivals to the Almighty because there can be only one true glory.

Can a fleeting insect boast against the sun that gave it life? Can a clay pot claim superiority over its creator? Can desert dust challenge the whirlwind, or ocean drops defy the storm?

Give the Lord the glory and strength due His name. This is a tough lesson for Christians: "Not to us, not to us, but to Your name be glory." God teaches us this truth, sometimes through painful trials. If a Christian boasts, "I can do all things," without Christ's strength, he will soon find himself saying, "I can do nothing," and feeling humbled. When we do anything for the Lord and He accepts our efforts, let's lay our crowns at His feet, saying, "Not I, but the grace of God with me!"

Closing Prayer

Lord, as this day begins, fill us with Your love so we can share it generously. In Jesus' name, Amen.
