God delights in giving. His gifts are immeasurable and as freely given as sunlight. He gives grace because he wills it, because of his covenant, because of his promise, and to those who seek or need it. This grace is abundant, timely, constant, and sovereign, emphasized by the way it's given.
He pours out all forms of grace to his people: comforting, preserving, sanctifying, guiding, teaching, and helping. He does this continually, no matter what happens. If we face sickness, the Lord gives grace. If poverty comes, grace will be provided. Even in death, grace will light our darkest moments. How wonderful it is, as seasons change, to hold on to the unfailing promise, "The Lord will give grace." The "and" in this scripture binds the present with the future: grace and glory are inseparable; God has joined them, and nothing can separate them.
God will not deny glory to a soul he has sustained by his grace. Glory is simply grace perfected, like a fully ripened fruit. We could see this glory soon; perhaps even before October ends. Regardless, we will be glorified in due time.
The glory of heaven, eternity, and the divine—God will surely give these to his chosen. What a precious promise from a faithful God. Grace and glory are connected, and those who have grace will gain glory.
Closing Prayer
God, as we end this day, help us trust You fully, even when the path isn't clear. Through Christ our Lord, Amen.
