It's interesting how the verse starts: "At that time Jesus answered." If you check the context, no one seems to be asking Him anything. Yet it says, "Jesus answered and said, I thank you, Father." Who was speaking to Jesus? His Father.
There's no record of that conversation. This shows us that Jesus was always in touch with His Father. God spoke into His heart so often that it wasn't noteworthy. Talking with God was part of Jesus' daily life. We're called to follow Jesus' example. Let's learn from Him and have our own quiet conversations with the Father, recognizing His voice in ways others might not notice.
God speaks to us; we should speak to Him—whether to confirm His promises, confess our sins, thank Him for His mercy, or embrace the truths He's revealed. It's a privilege to have such intimate communion with God. It's a joy that others may not understand. To hear God's whispers of love, our hearts and ears must be ready to listen. May we be prepared, like Jesus, to respond to Him tonight.
Closing Prayer
Lord, as we end this day, help us to trust you completely, even when the way isn't clear. Through Christ our Lord, Amen.
