The word "See" captures the astonishment at the unbelief just expressed before. Zion had said, "The Lord has forsaken me, and my God has forgotten me." The divine mind seems shocked by this doubt. What is more amazing than the baseless fears of those God loves? God's gentle rebuke should make us humble. He asks, "How could I forget you, when I have engraved you on the palms of my hands?"

How can we doubt God's constant care when the reminder is etched into His own being? Unbelief is truly baffling! We can't decide what is more incredible: God's faithfulness or our doubt. He keeps His word countless times, yet the next challenge causes us to question Him. God never fails us; He isn't a dry well or a passing shadow. Yet, we are constantly worried and suspicious, as if God were an illusion.

"See" invites us to admire. It's a marvel that rebels are closest to the heart of infinite love, engraved on His hands. "I have engraved you." It doesn't just mean your name is there. It means everything about you: your life, your struggles, your sins, your needs, your work. You, in your entirety, are engraved there. How can we ever think God has abandoned us when we are carved into His own hands?

Closing Prayer

Father, as we begin this day, help us trust You completely, even when we can't see the way. In Jesus' name, Amen.
