November 30

To the king of Judah, the question seemed pressing, and even more so to the Christian who is tried and tempted. Losing money is never easy, and when it involves doing the right thing, our human nature hesitates. We think, "Why lose what could be useful? Can truth cost too much? What about our family and small income?" These thoughts and countless others may tempt a Christian to chase unrighteous gain or avoid acting on their beliefs when it means serious loss. Not everyone can see these matters through the eyes of faith. Even believers can be swayed by the thought of "We must live."

But "The Lord is able to give you much more than this" is a reassuring truth. God controls all resources, and what we lose for His sake, He can repay many times over. Our role is to obey, trusting that He will provide. God will not let anyone have the final word over Him. Believers understand that a bit of peace in the heart is worth far more than piles of gold.

A person with a clean conscience, clothed in a simple garment, holds spiritual wealth far beyond any worldly loss. God's approval and a humble place are enough for the sincere. His disapproval and a grand palace would be agony for a devoted spirit. Even if things seem at their worst and we lose all, we have not lost our true treasure. It's in heaven, where Christ is seated at God's right hand. Even now, God blesses the humble, and He withholds no good thing from those who walk with integrity.

Closing Prayer

Father, as the day begins, help us trust You completely, even when we can't see the way ahead. Through Christ our Lord, Amen.
