January 10

Doubting one, you've said, "I fear I shall never enter heaven." Fear not. All God's people will enter there. I love the saying of a dying man who declared, "I've no fear of going home; everything's been sent ahead. God's finger is on the latch of my door, and I'm ready for Him to enter." Someone asked him, "Aren't you afraid of missing your inheritance?" He replied, "No. There's a crown in heaven the angel Gabriel can't wear; it fits only me. There's a throne in heaven Paul the Apostle can't fill; it's made for me, and I shall have it."

Christian, what a joy! Your portion is secure: "there remains a rest." "But can't I lose it?" No, it's guaranteed. If I'm a child of God, I won't lose it. It's mine as surely as if I were already there.

Come, believer, let’s stand upon the top of Nebo and view the Promised Land, even Canaan. Do you see that river of death shimmering in the sunlight? Beyond it, do you see the peaks of the eternal city? Do you notice the beautiful land and its joyful people? Know this: if you could fly over, you'd see written on one of its mansions, "This remains for such a one, preserved for him only. He shall be caught up to dwell with God forever."

Poor doubting one, see your fair inheritance; it's yours. If you believe in the Lord Jesus, if you've repented of sin, if your heart's been renewed, then you're one of the Lord's people. There's a place reserved for you, a crown laid up for you, a harp especially provided for you. No one else will take your portion. It's reserved in heaven just for you, and you will have it soon, for no throne will be left empty when all the chosen are gathered.

Closing Prayer

Father, help us trust You fully this morning, even when we cannot see the path ahead. Amen.
