January 21

When Moses sang at the Red Sea, he was joyful knowing all Israel was safe. Not a drop of water fell from that solid wall until every one of God's people had safely crossed. Once that was done, the waters returned, but not a moment before. Part of the song celebrated, "You in your mercy have led forth the people you've redeemed." In the last time, when the chosen sing the song of Moses and the Lamb, it will be Jesus’ boast, "Of all whom you've given me, I’ve lost none." There won't be an empty throne in heaven.

"For all the chosen race shall meet around the throne, shall bless the conduct of his grace, and make his glories known." All whom God has chosen, Christ has redeemed, and the Spirit has called, who believe in Jesus, will safely cross. Not everyone is safely on the other side yet: "Part of the host have crossed the flood, and part are crossing now." Some have already arrived, while we march through the depths today, following our Leader fearlessly. Let's take heart: soon the rear will join the front.

The last of the chosen will soon cross, and then a song of triumph will rise when all are secure. But if even one was missing, if one of his chosen was lost, it would create eternal discord, silencing the harps of paradise.

Closing Prayer

Father, in this quiet morning, help us trust You completely, even when the way isn't clear. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.
