January 24

God delivers His people from traps in two ways: preventing them from getting caught, and rescuing them if they do. For some, the first promise is most precious; for others, the second.

"He shall deliver you from the snare." How does He do this? Sometimes, He uses trouble as a means of deliverance. If we begin to stray, He mercifully sends discipline. We might ask, "Lord, why this trouble?" Not realizing it's saving us from something far worse.

Many have been saved from ruin through suffering. Challenges scare us away from traps. At times, God strengthens His people spiritually so when they face temptation, they respond, "How can I do this great evil and sin against God?" But even if a believer falls into a trap, God will rescue them.

To those who have strayed, don't lose hope. Though you've wandered, hear your Redeemer's voice: "Return, backsliding children; I'll have mercy on you." You might feel trapped, but remember, "Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler." God will lead you out of all evil and, though you'll repent for your errors, the One who loves you won't abandon you. He'll welcome you back, bringing joy and gladness, so that you may rejoice even with broken bones. No paradise bird will remain trapped in the fowler's net.

Closing Prayer

God, as we start this day, help us trust You fully, even when our path isn't clear. Through Christ our Lord, Amen.
