Members of Christ's Church should be prayerful, seeking the Holy Spirit's presence in their hearts for Christ's kingdom to come and His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. There are moments when God seems to favor His people, and these should feel like "the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees." In such times, we should pray more earnestly and act quickly and decisively. When the tide is flowing, let's pull strongly for the shore.
We long for outpourings like Pentecost and the work that follows. There are times when you feel an inner stirring; the Spirit brings joy and clarity, the Scriptures become clearer, promises come alive, and you sense a deeper closeness with Christ. In these joyful times, it's crucial to take action. Now is the moment to let go of any sinful habits while the Spirit strengthens you.
Spread your sail, remembering the song: "I can only spread the sail; You must breathe the auspicious gale." Raise your sails and be ready for the wind. Seek God's help to be more earnest in your duties as your faith grows stronger, more constant in prayer as you find more freedom, and holier in your life while you stay close to Christ.
Closing Prayer
God, as we start this day, help us trust you fully, even when the path isn't clear. For your glory. Amen.
