When asked about salvation, many people say it means being saved from hell and going to heaven. That's part of it, but it's not all. Jesus does rescue us from God's wrath and the condemnation our sins deserve, but his victory is even greater. He saves us from our sins. What a sweet deliverance from our worst enemies.

Where Christ saves, he dethrones Satan. Sin can't rule over a true Christian. Sin remains with us and won't be gone until we reach glory, but it won't have dominion. It will fight for control, struggling against God's spirit in us, but it won't ever be king over our hearts.

Christ is the Master of our hearts, and sin must die. The Lion of Judah will triumph, and evil will be cast out. Is sin defeated in you?

If you live unholy, your heart is unchanged, and an unchanged heart means you're unsaved. If the Savior hasn't made you holy, renewed you, given you hatred for sin and love for righteousness, he hasn't truly saved you. Grace that doesn't change us is worthless. Christ saves us from sin, not in sin. Without holiness, no one will see the Lord. Let's depart from sin if we claim Christ's name. If not saved from sin, how can we be among his people? Lord, save me now from all evil, and help me honor my Savior.

Closing Prayer

Jesus, while we sit quietly, anchor our hope in Your unchanging promises. For Your glory, Amen.
