April 24

How sweet is the season of spring. The long, dreary winter helps us appreciate its warmth, and the promise of summer makes its delights even greater. After times of spiritual depression, how wonderful it is to see the light of the Sun of Righteousness again. Our dormant graces awaken like flowers pushing through the earth. Our hearts are filled with gratitude, more melodious than the songs of birds, and the peace we feel is far sweeter than the dove's call. Now is the time for the soul to seek fellowship with her Beloved, to rise above old habits and leave them behind. If we don't seize the moment when the winds are favorable, we have only ourselves to blame. We must not let these times of refreshing pass us by unused.

When Jesus visits us tenderly and invites us to rise, can we really refuse him? He rose to draw us to himself. By his Holy Spirit, he revives us so we can live a new life, ascending to the heavenly places to commune with him. Let us leave behind the coldness and indifference of winter. When the Lord brings a spring to our souls, let us grow and flourish with renewed purpose.

Lord, if my heart is still in winter, make it spring. I'm weary of being distant from you. When will this long, dreary winter end? Come, Holy Spirit, renew my soul! Revive me, restore me, and have mercy on me. Tonight, I earnestly ask the Lord to show compassion to me and send a revival of spiritual life.

Closing Prayer

Lord, as we end this day, anchor our hope in Your unchanging promises. In Jesus' name, Amen.
