Jesus Christ isn't a tyrannical ruler claiming divine right. He truly is the Lord's chosen one. "It has pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell." God has given him all power and authority. As the Son of man, he's now the head of everything for his church, reigning over heaven, earth, and hell, with the keys of life and death. Some rulers love to call themselves kings by the will of the people, and our Lord Jesus is certainly King in his church.
If we could vote on him being King of the church, every believer would crown him. We wish we could crown him more gloriously than we do! We'd spare no cost to glorify Christ. Suffering would be pleasure, and loss would be gain, if we could place brighter crowns on his head and make him more glorious to all.
Yes, he shall reign. Long live the King! All hail, King Jesus! Go forth, you who love your Lord, bow at his feet, and shower him with the lilies of your love and roses of your gratitude.
"Bring forth the royal diadem and crown him Lord of all." Jesus is King in Zion by the right of conquest: he has stormed and captured the hearts of his people, defeating the enemies who held them captive. In the Red Sea of his blood, our Redeemer has drowned the Pharaoh of our sins. Shall he not be King? He has freed us from the iron yoke of the law. Shall not the Liberator be crowned? We are his, taken from the hands of the Amorite by his sword and bow. Who can take his victory from him?
All hail, King Jesus! We gladly welcome your gentle rule! Reign in our hearts forever, lovely Prince of Peace.
Closing Prayer
Jesus, fill us with Your love so we can share it freely. In Your name, Amen.
