Look at the epitaph of those blessed believers who passed before our Lord came! It doesn't matter how they died, whether peacefully or violently. The point is, they all shared something worth remembering: "they all died in faith." Faith was their comfort, guide, motive, and support. They ended their lives in the same faith they lived by, not relying on their accomplishments but holding to their acceptance by God through faith. Faith is precious for both living and dying.

Dying in faith reflects on the past. They believed the promises that came before, knowing their sins were forgiven by God's mercy. It affects the present too. These believers were sure of their acceptance by God, enjoyed His love, and rested in His faithfulness.

Dying in faith also looks to the future. They died believing the Messiah would come, and when He appears in the last days, they'd rise to see Him. For them, death's pain was just the beginning of a better life. Take heart from their story.

Your journey, by grace, is one of faith, and sight rarely comforts you. This path was also trod by the faithful. Faith was the light that guided them, and it's yours too. Fix your eyes on Jesus tonight, the author and finisher of your faith, and thank Him for giving you precious faith like those now in glory.

Closing Prayer

God, as we end this day, help us trust You fully, even when the path isn't clear. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.
