June 2

In every believer's heart, there's a struggle between the old nature and the new. The old nature is active, ready to use all its weapons against newborn grace. But the new nature is equally vigilant, resisting and seeking to overcome its enemy. Grace within us uses prayer, faith, hope, and love to fight against evil, donning the 'whole armor of God' and wrestling earnestly.

These two natures will battle as long as we're in this world. The battle of 'Christian' with 'Apollyon' lasted three hours, but the fight within lasted from the Wicket Gate to the River Jordan. The enemy is so firmly rooted in us that he can't be driven out while we're in this body. Yet, with Jesus, our Almighty helper and Captain of our salvation, we are promised victory.

With such assistance, the new-born nature can conquer its foes. Are you battling the adversary today? Do Satan, the world, and the flesh stand against you? Don't be discouraged.

Fight on! God is with you. Jehovah Nissi is your banner, and Jehovah Rophi heals your wounds. Fear not, for Omnipotence cannot be defeated. Fight on, 'looking to Jesus.' Though the conflict may be long and difficult, the victory will be sweet and the promised reward glorious. 'From strength to strength go on; Wrestle, and fight, and pray, Tread all the powers of darkness down, And win the well-fought day.'

Closing Prayer

God, as we start this day, help us trust You fully, even when the path isn't clear. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.
