June 4

We've seen our beloved Lord during his time on earth, humiliated and deeply troubled. He was "despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, acquainted with grief." The one whose brightness is like the morning wore the clothing of sorrow daily. Shame was his cloak, and reproach was his robe. Yet now, after triumphing over the powers of darkness on the cross, our faith sees our King returning victorious, robed in splendor. Imagine the wonder of the angels as a cloud took him from mortal view, and he ascended to heaven.

Now he has the glory he shared with God before the earth was made, and another glory he earned by defeating sin, death, and hell. As a victor, he wears a crown of triumph. Listen to the new and sweeter song rising: "Worthy is the Lamb that was slain, for he has redeemed us to God by his blood!" He holds the glory of an unfailing Intercessor, an undefeated Prince, a Conqueror over every enemy, and a Lord loved by all who follow him. Jesus wears all the glory heaven can give, surrounded by countless angels. We can't fully imagine his greatness. Yet one day it will be revealed when he returns in power with all the holy angels. "Then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory." The splendor of that glory will captivate his people.

But even this isn't the end. Eternity will echo with his praise: "Your throne, God, is forever and ever!" If you wish to join in Christ's glory then, he must be glorious to you now. Is he?

Closing Prayer

Lord Jesus, in this quiet moment, help us trust you fully, even when the path isn't clear. Amen.
