If you want to see souls converted and hear the cry that "the kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord," then be filled with zeal. The zeal of the church is vital for the world's conversion. While every grace will accomplish great things, zeal must lead the way. Prudence, knowledge, patience, and courage will follow, but zeal is essential.
It's not about how much you know or how talented you are. It's your zeal that will achieve great things. This zeal comes from the Holy Spirit, drawing energy from His work within us. If our spiritual life fades and our hearts slow before God, we won't experience zeal. But if we're strong and full of life inwardly, we'll long to see Christ's kingdom come and His will done on earth as in heaven.
Gratitude fuels Christian zeal. Remembering the pit from which we've been rescued gives us reason to be spent for God. Zeal is also driven by thoughts of eternity. It looks sorrowfully at hell's flames and can't remain idle; it gazes at heaven's glory and must act.
Zeal knows that time is short compared to the work ahead, so it gives everything to the Lord's cause. It's strengthened by remembering Christ's example. He was wrapped in zeal. His duty never dragged or lingered. Let's show we're His disciples by living with the same zeal.
Closing Prayer
Lord, as this day ends, thank You for meeting us with grace. May we be filled with zeal for Your work. In Christ's name, Amen.
