June 10

Jesus Christ is the beginning and end of the Bible. He is its central theme. From the start to the end, every part of it speaks of Him. At creation, we see Him as part of the Trinity. We glimpse Him in the promise of the woman's seed and see Him symbolized in Noah's ark. Walking with Abraham, we witness his joy in seeing Messiah's day. We join Isaac and Jacob, cherishing the promise. We hear Israel speak of Shiloh. Through the law's many symbols, the Redeemer is revealed. Prophets, kings, priests, and preachers all point the same way. Like cherubs over the ark, they long to uncover the mystery of God's great sacrifice.

In the New Testament, Jesus is clearly its focus. It isn't dotted with gold but is built on it because the whole essence is Jesus crucified. Even its close is adorned with His name. We should read Scripture as a mirror reflecting Christ from heaven. Though we see Him dimly now, it prepares us for the day we meet Him face to face.

These writings are Christ's letters to us, filled with His love. The pages are the robes of our King, fragrant with myrrh, aloes, and cassia. Scripture is the royal chariot carrying Jesus, paved in love for His people. The Scriptures swaddle the Holy Child. Unwrap them, and you find your Savior. God's Word is centered on Christ.

Closing Prayer

Lord, as this day ends, keep our hope rooted in Your promises. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.
