Many think it was a unique privilege to be Jesus' mother, imagining she understood Him in a way we can't. This seems plausible but isn't really so. There's no evidence Mary knew more than others. What she did know, she wisely treasured in her heart, but she wasn't a better-informed believer than Christ's other disciples. What she knew, we can also learn.
Does this surprise you? Here's proof: "The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him, and He shows them His covenant." Jesus Himself said, "I no longer call you servants, because a servant doesn't know his master's business. Instead, I've called you friends, for everything I've heard from my Father, I've made known to you." Jesus reveals His heart so that nothing profitable is kept back from us. He assures us, "If it weren't so, I'd have told you." Doesn't He show Himself to us in ways He doesn't to the world? Yes, He does. So, instead of crying, "Blessed is the womb that bore You," we can thank God that by hearing and keeping His Word, we have a true connection with the Savior, just like Mary had, and a true understanding of His heart. What a blessing it is!
Closing Prayer
Lord, as this day begins, help us trust You fully, even when the path isn't clear. For Your glory, Amen.
