Outward, practical holiness is a precious mark of grace. It's concerning that many have twisted the idea of being made right with God by faith to dismiss good works. Such people will face judgment in the end. If our hands aren't clean, let's wash them in Jesus' blood and lift pure hands to God.
But having "clean hands" isn't enough without "a pure heart." True faith begins in the heart. We can clean the outside all we want, but if our hearts are dirty, we're dirty in God's eyes. Our heart is our true self, and purity within is essential. Only the pure in heart will see God; the rest remain blind spiritually.
Someone destined for heaven doesn't lift their soul to worthless things. People find joy in different things. While some pursue empty worldly pleasures, a believer finds joy in God's ways, like King Jehoshaphat. Those content with empty things are like swine eating husks. If the world satisfies you, then you've received your reward here, and you'll know no other joy.
"Nor sworn deceitfully." Believers are still people of integrity. A Christian's word is as good as an oath, unlike others who may take multiple oaths. Lying will keep anyone out of heaven, no matter their claims or actions. Does this scripture convict you, or do you hope to reach God's holy hill?
Closing Prayer
Jesus, in this quiet moment, help us to trust You fully, even when the way is unclear. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.
