Since we have such a God to trust, let's lean fully on Him. Let's drive out unbelief and shed the doubts and fears that disrupt our peace. There's no reason for fear when God is our foundation. Imagine the grief of a loving parent whose child can't trust him. How unfair and unkind are we when we place so little trust in our heavenly Father, who has never failed us and never will. It would be good if doubting were ousted from God's family, but sadly, unbelief is still lively today. The psalmist once doubted, asking, "Is His mercy gone forever? Will He be favorable no more?"
David hadn't long tested Goliath's mighty sword, yet he declared, "There's none like it." After one youthful victory, he praised it ever after. Likewise, we should speak well of our God; there's none like Him above or below. "To whom will you liken me, or shall I be equal?" says the Holy One. There's no rock like Jacob's rock, even our enemies agree. Instead of allowing doubts in our hearts, let's, like Elijah did with Baal's prophets, remove them. We'll drown them in the sacred stream that flows from our Savior's side. We've faced many trials, but never one where God didn't supply all we needed. Let's trust in the Lord forever, confident that His everlasting strength will always be our help and refuge.
Closing Prayer
Lord, as this day closes, help us trust You fully, even when the path isn't clear. Through Christ our Lord, Amen.
