Reassured by God's Word, the trembling people of Zion found courage, dismissing Sennacherib's arrogant threats. Strong faith gives God's servants the strength to calmly face their proudest enemies. We know our foes attempt the impossible. They aim to destroy eternal life, but it endures as long as Jesus lives, to topple the fortress against which hell itself cannot prevail.
Their efforts only wound themselves, challenging God's protective power to their own harm. We understand their limitations. What are they but mere mortals, and what is man but a worm?
They rage like stormy seas, revealing their own shame. But when the Lord rises, they scatter like chaff in the wind, consumed like crackling thorns. Their inability to harm God's cause emboldens even Zion's weakest soldiers to mock them. Above all, we know the Almighty is with us, and when He arms Himself, who can stand against Him?
When He comes forth, the broken pieces of this world cannot contend with their Creator. His iron rod will shatter them like pottery, erasing their memory from the earth. So, cast aside all fears. The kingdom is secure in the King's hands. Let's rejoice, for the Lord reigns, and His foes will become as straw for the dunghill.
Closing Prayer
Father, as this new day begins, help us trust You completely, even when the way forward is unclear. Through Christ our Lord, Amen.
