Looking at our character and position from a legal standpoint leads to despair. Even if we start with hope, as we continue, we'll find no one stands justified by the law alone. What a blessing it is to live under grace, not law! The key question isn't, "Am I flawless before the law?", but "Am I complete in Christ?" That's a whole different matter.

We don't ask, "Am I naturally without sin?", but "Have I been washed in the cleansing fountain?" It's not "Am I pleasing to God in myself?", but "Am I accepted in Christ?" Seeing our faith from Sinai's perspective brings anxiety about our salvation. Better to see our assurance through the lens of Calvary. You might worry, "My faith is weak; it can't save me." But think of Christ, the object of your faith. There's no flaw in Him, and that's where your security lies.

You may sigh, "My hope is overshadowed by worry." Focusing on God's promise shows its surety; our doubts don't change His steadfastness. Believer, you're safer led by the Spirit into gospel freedom than burdened by legal chains. Judge yourself by who Christ is, not by who you are. When Satan accuses you, your peace lies in holding to the gospel and refusing the yoke of the law.

Closing Prayer

Jesus, help us trust You fully, even when the path isn't clear. We pray in Your name. Amen.
