Believers find immense joy in knowing how much God delights in us. We may not see any reason for this delight within ourselves. Often, we struggle, weighed down by our imperfections and sinfulness. We might assume others see our flaws more than our virtues and feel discouraged. Yet, there's a profound truth: as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, the Lord rejoices over us. The Bible doesn't mention God delighting in mountains or stars, but it does say He delights in people, in us.
We don't read that even angels bring Him such joy. He doesn't call cherubim or seraphim 'Hephzibah,' meaning 'My delight is in her,' but He says this to us, despite our sin, because we're redeemed and lifted by His grace. The language God uses to express His delight in us is powerful. Imagine the eternal God bursting into song over us! It's written, 'He'll rejoice over you with joy, rest in His love, and sing over you.' When God saw the world, He said it was 'very good,' but when He sees those redeemed by Jesus’ blood, His joy overflows. How can we not respond to such a declaration of His love with our own song of joy, saying, 'I'll rejoice in the Lord, I'll joy in the God of my salvation'?
Closing Prayer
Lord, as the day begins, help us trust You fully, even when the path is unclear. For Your glory, Amen.
