What a privilege it is to be accepted by God! This acceptance isn't just about being made right with Him. In the original Greek, it means we are the objects of His delight. How amazing that we, insignificant and sinful as we are, would be loved by God!

But our acceptance comes only through Christ. Some Christians feel accepted based on their experiences. When they're full of joy and hope, they believe God accepts them. But when they feel low, they fear they are no longer accepted. If they realized that neither their highs nor lows change their standing before God, they would find more joy and give more glory to the Savior. They're accepted in the One who never changes, who is always loved by God and perfect in every way.

Rejoice, believer, because you're accepted 'in the beloved.' You may see nothing worthy in yourself, but look to Christ. He is entirely acceptable. Your sins may trouble you, but God has cast them away, and you're accepted in the Righteous One. Though you battle sin and temptation, you're already accepted in Him who conquered all evil. Even when Satan tempts you, take heart, for he cannot destroy you, as you're accepted in the One who has crushed his power.

Have full assurance of your standing. Even souls in heaven aren't more accepted than you. They're accepted 'in the beloved,' just as you are now in Christ.

Closing Prayer

Father, this morning, help us to fully trust in You, even when the path ahead isn't clear. Through Christ our Lord, Amen.
