There's no more gracious picture of God than when He's described as coming down from His throne to care for our needs and see our sorrows. We cherish the God of mercy who, even when Sodom and Gomorrah were steeped in sin, didn't destroy them until He examined their state personally. We can't help but love our Lord who listens attentively from glory, bending down to hear the dying sinner yearning for peace. How can we not adore Him when He counts the hairs on our heads, guides our steps, and directs our ways?
This truth becomes even dearer when we realize God cares not only about our physical needs but our spiritual ones too. Despite the vast distance between us and our Creator, we're connected. When you shed a tear, know that God sees it. "Like a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord is compassionate to those who fear Him." Your sigh reaches the heart of God, your whisper gains His ear, your prayer guides His hand, and your faith moves His strength. Don't think He overlooks you from His heavenly height.
Even if you're poor and needy, the Lord is mindful of you. His eyes search the earth to show His strength for those whose hearts are His. Repeat this precious truth: No god compares to the God my soul seeks. Though His voice shakes heaven, He still stoops to me.
Closing Prayer
God, as we begin this day, help us trust in You completely, even when the way isn't clear. In Jesus' name, Amen.
