It's surprising that Moses was chosen, but it's even more astonishing that one greater than Moses stands with us. Our Lord, pure as the lily, is united with us in love despite our imperfections. It's an angelic wonder that Jesus loves broken, lost, guilty people. When we truly grasp Jesus' love, we're amazed that He would pour such love on us, undeserving as we are.
Knowing our own hidden sins and weaknesses, we're overwhelmed with gratitude for His boundless grace. Jesus loves us not because of anything He finds in us, but because of what's in His heart. Even after our conversion, we've struggled with sin, though His grace has transformed us. As Rutherford said, we are sick, and He is the Physician we need.
How often do we waver in our commitment to Christ! He binds, we break; He builds, we tear down. Yet He remains our faithful and tender Savior. Keep shaping us into Your likeness, Lord, until we stand spotless before You. Just as Moses faced criticism for his marriage, we shouldn't be surprised if the world opposes Jesus and His people, especially when great sinners are redeemed. The old complaint still holds: 'This man welcomes sinners,' just as they grumbled about Moses marrying a foreigner.
Closing Prayer
Jesus, in this quiet moment, help us trust You fully, even when the path isn't clear. For Your glory, Amen.
