Notice the clarity of the promise: "I will, I will." The Lord Himself promises to deliver and redeem His people. God's own hand will accomplish this to ensure He gets all the glory. There's no mention of us needing to assist Him. Our strength, or our lack of it, isn't what matters. It's His power alone that shines brightly.
Why do we then try to rely on our own abilities? God doesn't need our help. Be still, doubting thoughts, and recognize that the Lord is in control. No word is spoken about other means or helpers either. God chooses to act alone, without needing anyone else.
Relying on people—friends or family—is often futile. They're unreliable supports: sometimes unwilling to help or unable to do so. Since the promise is from God alone, let's wait on Him. When we do, our hope isn't in vain. Who are the wicked that they should intimidate us? God will destroy them, making them objects of pity, not fear.
Terrible foes are only frightening if we don't have God. With the Lord on our side, whom should we fear? If we compromise to please others, we have cause to worry. But if we remain steadfast, even tyrants cannot harm us ultimately. Remember Jonah. When the fish swallowed him, it couldn't keep him. The world may try to devour the church but will eventually be glad to release it. In trials, let's stay patient and keep our faith.
Closing Prayer
Father, as evening comes, anchor our hope in Your unchanging promises. May we rest in the assurance of Your power and glory. Amen.
