November 1

Is there a Church in your home? Are parents, children, friends, and servants all believers, or are some still not saved? Let's take a moment to consider: Am I part of the Church in this house?

Think about the joy a parent would feel if every family member, from oldest to youngest, came to faith. Let's pray fervently for this until God grants it. Philemon probably longed for his entire household to know Christ, but it wasn't immediate. He had a rebellious servant, Onesimus, who wronged him and ran away.

Yet, Philemon's prayers went with Onesimus. In God’s timing, Onesimus heard Paul preach, was touched by the gospel, and returned to Philemon, not just as a loyal servant but as a beloved brother. He became part of the Church in Philemon's home. Is there someone in your life who hasn't come to faith yet? Pray earnestly that they will return with a testimony of God's grace.

If there is someone present who hasn't come to Christ, invite them to join this prayer. If your household is a Church, live in a way that honors God. Let kindness, diligence, and integrity mark all your actions.

A Church is expected to live differently than a typical household. Family worship should be genuine and heartfelt. Love within should be strong and unbreakable, and behavior should reflect Christ. Even if your group is small, remember that the Holy Spirit acknowledges family churches in Scripture. As a Church, let's draw near to Jesus, the head of the one universal Church, and ask Him for grace to glorify His name.

Closing Prayer

Lord, as this day begins, help us to trust You fully, even when the path isn't clear. In Jesus' name, Amen.
