The more you know about Christ, the less satisfied you'll be with shallow views of Him. The deeper you explore His eternal promises, His role as our eternal Surety, and the fullness of His grace in all His works, the more clearly you'll see the King in His beauty. Long to see Him more and more.
Meditation and contemplation are like windows through which we see the Redeemer. They act like a telescope, letting us see Jesus better than if we had lived in His time on earth. I wish our thoughts were more heavenly, focused on the person, work, and beauty of our Lord. More meditation helps us see His beauty more clearly.
We might see our glorious King more vividly than ever before as we face death. Many believers, even amidst life's storms, have seen Jesus in their final moments and heard Him say, "It's I, be not afraid." When life crumbles, we see Christ more clearly, and heavenly light breaks in. To truly behold the "King in His beauty," we'll need to be in heaven, or He must return to us.
O that He would come quickly! He's our Husband, and we're widowed without Him. He's our beloved Brother, and we're lonely in His absence. Shadows and clouds separate us from true life: when will the dawn come, and the shadows flee? Oh, long-awaited day, begin!
Closing Prayer
Lord, as this day ends, anchor our hope in Your unchanging promises. In Jesus' name, Amen.
