Even the laziest only ask for a little more sleep, and they'd be upset if someone called them completely idle. Just a little more rest is all they seek, and they have plenty of reasons to justify it. Yet, it's through these little moments that the day slips away, the time for work vanishes, and fields become overgrown with thorns. It's through small delays that souls are lost.
They don't plan on delaying for years, just a few months until a better time comes. They'll get serious about things tomorrow, or so they promise. But right now feels too busy and inconvenient, so they ask for a bit more time. Like sands through an hourglass, time passes, life is wasted bit by bit, and opportunities for grace are missed by little naps. Oh, to be wise and seize the moment.
May the Lord teach us this wisdom because neglect leads to the worst kind of poverty: eternal poverty, where even a drop of water is begged for in vain. Poverty catches up with the lazy, and ruin seizes those who can't decide. Each hour brings the danger closer. It doesn't stop because it's doing its master's work. Just as an armed man comes with power, so shall want come to the idle, and death to those who refuse to repent, leaving no escape.
How I wish people would act wisely now and seek the Lord Jesus diligently before it's too late. Once the solemn day arrives, it's too late to plow, sow, repent, and believe. During harvest, it's useless to regret neglecting the planting season. Faith and a holy decision are still possible now. Let's seek them tonight.
Closing Prayer
Lord, as we end this day, help us to trust You completely, even when the way isn't clear. We pray this in Jesus' name. Amen.
