Broad rivers and streams bring fertility and abundance. Areas near rivers are known for their lush vegetation and plentiful harvests. God is all of this to His Church. With God, we have everything we need.
What could we ask for that He won't provide? What need can we mention that He won't supply? "In this mountain, the Lord of Hosts will prepare a feast for all people." Do you need the bread of life? It falls like manna from the sky.
Thirsty for refreshing streams? The rock follows you, and that Rock is Christ. If you're lacking, it's your own doing; any limitation isn't from Him. Like broad rivers, God is also a source of spiritual commerce.
Through Christ, we have access to the wealth of Calvary, the treasures of the covenant, and the riches of eternal promises. We also glimpse the future, with visions of heaven on earth. We commune with angels and, more wonderfully, with God Himself. Broad rivers also symbolize security.
In the past, rivers served as defenses. What a defense God is to His Church! The devil can't cross this river. He wishes he could, but fear not, God doesn't change. Satan may try, but he can't destroy us; no enemy vessel will invade our waters.
Closing Prayer
Jesus, as dawn breaks, anchor our hope in Your unchanging promises. For Your glory, Amen.
