The anointing oil had great significance under the law, and its representation is vital in the gospel. The Holy Spirit, who anoints us for holy service, is essential if we're to serve the Lord meaningfully. Without His help, our religious practices are just empty rituals; our spiritual experiences are lifeless. When ministry lacks the Spirit's presence, it turns into mere noise.

This is true for the prayers, praises, and efforts of individual believers too. The anointing brings life to our faith; without it, we face the greatest misfortune. Approaching God without His anointing is like a commoner assuming the role of a priest, turning service into sin. Let's ensure we never attempt sacred acts without the Holy Spirit's presence.

The Spirit's anointing flows from Christ, our glorious Head, reaching us like oil running down His robes. The finest ingredients were used for the anointing oil, showing us how rich are the Holy Spirit's influences. True comfort, perfect teaching, life-giving power, and holiness all come through this divine anointing.

It gives a beautiful fragrance to the person it touches. No wealth or wisdom can rival it. It's unique, given by God alone, and freely offered through Jesus Christ to all who wait. Let's seek it tonight, because we can receive it. Lord, anoint your servants.

Closing Prayer

Lord, as evening falls, calm our worried hearts with Your peace. Through Christ our Lord, Amen.
