Walk the streets at night, and you'll see sinners. Listen when the wind howls and you hear the picklock at work. You'll see sinners then. Visit the jail, see the men with hardened faces, whom you'd rather not meet after dark. Sinners are there. Go to reformatories, where young lives have gone astray, and you'll find sinners, too.
Travel across the seas, even to places where terrible acts occur, and yes, sinners are there as well. You don't need to search far to find them—they are everywhere. It's for these, for all of us, that Jesus died. If you show me the worst person, if they are born of woman, I still hold hope for them because Jesus came to save sinners.
God's love often chooses the worst to become the best. Grace turns ordinary stones into precious jewels for the crown. He changes worthless things into pure gold. Many of the worst in humanity are set apart by redeeming love as a reward for the Savior's sacrifice.
Grace calls even the vilest to sit at the table of mercy, so don't despair. By the love in Jesus' eyes, by the wounds that bled for you, by His faithful, strong love, don't turn away. Believe in Him and be saved. Trust your soul to Him, and He'll bring you to everlasting glory at His Father's right hand.
Closing Prayer
God, as we start this day, help us trust You fully even when our path isn't clear. Through Christ our Lord, Amen.
