December 15

What we see in the church of God is beautiful, but so is what we don't see. Foundations are hidden, and as long as they're strong, we don't expect them to be valuable. Yet in God's work, everything is perfect. The deep foundations of grace are like precious sapphires, beyond human understanding. We build on the covenant of grace, firmer and more enduring than the toughest gemstone.

Sapphire foundations are eternal, just like the covenant that lasts as long as God Himself. Another foundation is Jesus, pure, everlasting, and beautiful. He blends the deep blue of the ocean with the sky's azure. Once He was seen as a ruby, covered in His own blood. Now we see Him in the soft blue of boundless, eternal love.

Our hopes rest on God's justice and faithfulness, clear and flawless as sapphires. We're not saved by compromise, where mercy defeats justice or law is set aside. Our foundation, flawless as sapphire, can withstand any trial. The Lord Himself has laid the basis for our hopes.

We must ask ourselves: are our hopes built on such a foundation? Good works and rituals aren't sapphire, but wood, hay, and stubble. They aren't laid by God, but by our own pride. All foundations will be tested. Woe to those whose lofty towers fall because they're built on sand. Those built on sapphires can face storms with peace, for they will endure.

Closing Prayer

Lord, as this day ends, help us trust You completely, even when our path seems uncertain. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.
