The apostle John got a glimpse into heaven and started by saying, "I looked, and, see, a Lamb!" This shows us that the main focus in heaven is "the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world." John's attention was drawn above all to the One who redeemed us by His blood. He is the subject of all glorified beings' and holy angels' songs. Christians, find joy in this: you've seen the Lamb. Even through tears, you've seen the Lamb of God removing your sins.
Rejoice! Soon, when your tears are gone, you'll see the Lamb exalted on His throne. Enjoying daily fellowship with Jesus now is a taste of heavenly joy. There, you'll constantly be in His presence and live with Him forever. Seeing the Lamb is seeing heaven because, as Rutherford beautifully says, "Heaven and Christ are the same thing." Being with Christ is being in heaven.
Rutherford once wrote, "O my Lord Jesus Christ, if I could be in heaven without you, it would be a hell. And if I could be in hell, and have you still, it would be a heaven to me, for you're all the heaven I want." Isn't that true, Christian? Doesn't your heart agree? "Not all the harps above can make a heavenly place, if God his residence remove, or but conceal his face." All you need to be truly blessed is to be with Christ.
Closing Prayer
Jesus, as the day begins, fill us with a joy that can't be shaken by life. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.
