We should never stop marveling at the wonders of our God. The line between holy wonder and true worship is thin. When we are overwhelmed by God's majesty, we might not sing or even pray aloud, but our hearts still adore Him. Our incarnate God deserves our worship as "the Wonderful." That God would care for fallen humanity and choose to become our Redeemer is truly astounding.
For each believer, salvation is most astonishing when viewed personally. It is a miracle of grace that Jesus would leave heaven's throne to suffer for us. Let your soul be filled with wonder, because this kind of wonder leads to grateful worship and sincere thanksgiving.
Holy wonder will make you watchful, fearing to sin against such love. Feeling God's presence in the gift of His Son, you'll tread carefully, knowing you're on holy ground. You'll also have glorious hope. If Jesus has done such remarkable things for you, heaven itself doesn't seem too much to hope for.
Once we have been amazed by the manger and the cross, nothing else seems truly wonderful. You may not be able to share like the shepherds of Bethlehem, but you can join in worship by marveling at what God has done.
Closing Prayer
Father, as evening comes, help us trust You fully, even when the path isn't clear. Through Christ our Lord, Amen.
