Thank the Lord for another day of mercy, though I'm now weary from it. I lift my song of gratitude to the one who preserves us. Just as the dove found no rest outside the ark and returned, my soul has learned that true rest isn’t in earthly things. Only God can satisfy my spirit.
My work, possessions, family, and achievements have their place, but they can’t fulfill my soul's desires. "Return to your rest, O my heart, for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you." At dusk, when the day was ending, the dove came back to her master. Lord, help me return to Jesus this evening. The dove didn’t want to spend a night over restless waters, and I can’t bear to be away from Jesus either. She didn’t just land on the ark; she came in to him.
I want my spirit to seek the Lord's secrets, to enter within the veil, and truly reach my Beloved. I must come to Jesus. Without close, dear fellowship with him, my spirit can't rest. Blessed Lord Jesus, be with me tonight, reveal yourself, and stay with me so that I may wake up with you. The dove brought back an olive branch, a reminder of the past and a promise of what’s to come.
Do I have no joyful memories to bring back? No sign of kindness to expect? Yes, Lord, I offer thanks for your mercies, new every morning and fresh every evening. Now, I pray, take me into your care.
Closing Prayer
Lord, as this day closes, help us trust You fully, even when the path isn't clear. Through Christ our Lord, Amen.
