Tonight, we reflect on one of the most touching miracles of our Savior. The woman approached Jesus with misconceptions. She thought His power worked automatically, without His direct involvement. She didn't understand His generous nature, or she wouldn't have snuck up to receive His healing which He so freely offered.
Misery should come straight to mercy. If she had known Jesus' heart, she might have said, "I just need to be seen by Him. He knows my need, and His love will surely heal me." We admire her faith but note her lack of understanding. Even after her healing, she feared Jesus might take back His gift, not realizing how complete His love was.
While our view of Him may be unclear and we might not grasp the full extent of His love, we can be sure He won't withdraw His gifts from a trembling soul. Her understanding was limited, but her faith was genuine and effective. Salvation through faith is immediate, with no delay. Even with faith as small as a mustard seed, salvation is ours forever.
Even if we feel we are the weakest among God's children, our inheritance is secure through faith. No human or evil power can take away our salvation. Even if we can't lean on Him like John, just reaching out in faith as the woman did can make us whole. Take heart, you who are timid; your faith has saved you. Go in peace. "Being justified by faith, we have peace with God."
Closing Prayer
Jesus, in this quiet moment, help us trust You fully, even when the path isn't clear. We pray in Your name, Amen.
