March 4

If none of God's believers faced poverty or trials, we'd miss much of the comfort found in God's grace. When we meet the wanderer with no place to rest, yet who says, "I will still trust in the Lord;" when we see someone living on bread and water, yet still rejoicing in Jesus; when we see a grieving widow, burdened by loss, yet holding on to faith in Christ, what honor it brings to the gospel. God's grace shines and grows in the struggles of believers.

Believers endure all discouragements because they trust that all things work together for their good. Even from seeming troubles, true blessings emerge. They believe God will either deliver them quickly or support them through the trouble for as long as He sees fit. This patience reveals the power of God's grace. Like a lighthouse at sea, its strength is revealed when storms rage. In the same way, if the Holy Spirit's work wasn't tested, we wouldn't know its truth and strength.

Without trials, we wouldn't know how secure it truly is. God's greatest works are those who stand firm in difficulties, "Calm amid the bewildering cry, confident of victory." To glorify God, we must expect many trials. No one can truly shine for the Lord without facing many battles. If your path is full of trials, rejoice, for it lets you display God's all-sufficient grace. Don't ever doubt His support. The God who has sustained you this far will surely be with you to the end.

Closing Prayer

Jesus, as dawn breaks, help us trust You fully, even when the path isn't clear. Through Christ our Lord, Amen.
