At the foot of the cross, we see hands, feet, and side pouring streams of precious blood. This blood is "precious" because it redeems and atones. It covers the sins of Christ's people, redeems them from the law, and reconciles them to God. Christ's blood also cleanses. "Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow." By Jesus' blood, every believer stands spotless, without wrinkle or blemish. O precious blood that cleanses and allows us to stand accepted in the Beloved, despite our rebellion. The blood of Christ keeps us safe, preserving us under its protection.
It is God's sight of the blood, not our own, that secures our safety. This brings comfort when our faith is weak, for God's sight never falters. Christ's blood also sanctifies. The blood that justifies by removing sin also strengthens our new nature and helps us obey God.
No motive for holiness is as powerful as what flows from Jesus' veins. This blood is "precious" because it has overwhelming power. "They overcame through the blood of the Lamb." Fighting with Jesus' blood ensures victory.
At the blood of Jesus, sin dies, death loses its sting, and heaven's gates swing open. We will march on, conquering and continuing to conquer, as long as we trust in its power.
Closing Prayer
Lord, as this day begins, help us trust You fully, even when the path isn't clear. For Your glory, Amen.
