What a sweet title: "My people!" What a comforting revelation: "Their God!" So much meaning lies in those two words, "My people!" This speaks of a special relationship. The entire world belongs to God. Heaven itself is His, and He reigns over all people. Yet for those He has chosen and redeemed, He says, "My people." This implies ownership. The Lord's special possession is His people; Jacob is His inheritance. While all nations are His, His chosen ones are especially dear to Him. He has done more for them, bought them with His blood, drawn them to Himself, set His heart upon them, and loved them with an everlasting love. A love unaffected by time or trials. Can you see yourself in that number with faith?
Can you look up and say, "My Lord and my God: mine because I can call You Father. Mine because of the fellowship I have with You when You reveal Yourself to me, unlike the world?" Can you search the Scriptures and find the assurance of your salvation? Do you see your title written in precious blood? Can you, with humble faith, reach out for Jesus and say, "My Christ"? If you can, then God calls you "My people." If God is your God and Christ your Savior, the Lord claims you. You're the object of His love, accepted in His beloved Son.
Closing Prayer
Father, help us trust You fully this morning, even when the way is unclear. In Christ's name, Amen.
