May 23

In the temple, worshippers offered sweet perfumes to God. But during backsliding, Israel's gifts dwindled, showing a cold heart toward God and His house. Does this happen to you? Could this complaint from Isaiah occasionally or even often apply to you?

If you're poor in material wealth but rich in faith, your small gifts still matter to God. Do you offer what you can, or hold back even the widow's mite from His treasury? If you're wealthy, be grateful for your gifts: you're also responsible, for much is required from those given much. Are you giving back to God what you've received?

Jesus gave His blood for us. What do we offer Him in return? We're His, and everything we have is His. Can we live as if we belong only to ourselves? Let's seek greater dedication and love.

Blessed Jesus, you graciously accept even the smallest token of our love as if it's precious. May we never be stingy with you. From now on, let's prevent hearing your complaint about withheld gifts. We'll give you the first fruits and tithes, knowing it's all from you anyway.

Closing Prayer

Lord, as this day ends, help us to trust you fully, even when our path isn’t clear. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
