"The Lord is my light and my salvation." Here is personal assurance: "my light," "my salvation." With confidence, the soul declares this truth. At the moment of new birth, divine light fills the soul, leading to salvation. Without enough light to reveal our darkness and awaken our longing for Jesus, we're still missing true salvation. After conversion, God is our joy and guide, our comfort and teacher. He is our light in every way: within us, around us, shining through us, and yet to be fully revealed.

Notice, it doesn't say the Lord gives light and salvation, but that He is light and salvation. By faith, if you've embraced God, you've received all His promises. With this truth secure, we confidently ask, "Whom shall I fear?" Darkness has no hold over us, for our Lord dispels it. Hell's damnation doesn't terrify us, for our Lord is our salvation. This challenge doesn't rely on human strength like Goliath's boast, but on the true power of the omnipotent I AM.

"The Lord is the strength of my life." This is a third affirmation, showing the writer's hope anchored with an unbreakable threefold cord. Let's stack up praises where the Lord pours out His grace. Our life's strength comes from God. If He strengthens us, no enemy can weaken us. "Of whom shall I be afraid?" This bold question reaches into the future as well as the present. "If God is for us," who can stand against us, now or ever?

Closing Prayer

Lord, as this day ends, help us trust You completely, even when the path is unclear. In Jesus' name, Amen.
