Keep your private prayer life glowing. This is the heart of all faith. The sanctuary and family altars draw strength from it, so keep it aflame. Private devotion is the essence and proof of a living faith.
Offer your deepest prayers here. Make your quiet time regular, frequent, and uninterrupted. Prayer can achieve great things. Do you have nothing to pray for?
Consider the Church, the ministry, your own soul, your children, family, neighbors, country, and God's truth worldwide. Are we half-hearted in private prayer? Is our devotion flickering?
Are we dragging our feet? If so, be alarmed—this is a warning. Cry out for the Spirit of grace and prayer. Set special times for heartfelt prayer.
If this fire is smothered by worldly ways, it dims our influence at home, in the Church, and beyond. The same applies to your heart's altar. God loves when our hearts burn for Him.
Offer your heart to God, blazing with love, and seek His help to keep it burning. It can't stay lit without Him. Many forces will try to put it out, but if God supplies the sacred oil, its flame will rise higher. Use Scripture to fuel your heart's fire; they are live coals. Attend sermons, but above all, spend time alone with Jesus.
Closing Prayer
Lord, as we begin today, fill us with Your love so we may share it freely. In Jesus' name, Amen.
