Craving miracles showed how spiritually weak people were in Jesus' time. They refused the solid truth of the gospel and wanted wonders instead. Today, many still demand signs or else they refuse to believe. Some think, "I'll believe in Jesus only if I feel a deep terror in my soul." But what if that feeling never comes?

Will you reject God because He doesn't act the way you expect? Some say, "If I had a dream, or a sudden shock of something unknown, then I'd believe." How dare we, as beggars at God's gate, try to dictate the terms of His mercy? Do you really think He'll agree to that?

Jesus is generous but He won't be controlled. If you crave signs and wonders, remember: isn't the gospel itself the greatest wonder? God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son so anyone who believes won't perish. Isn't that a miracle? The invitations, "Whoever desires, let them take the water of life freely" and "Whoever comes to me, I'll never turn away," should mean more than any miracle. Jesus speaks truth and stands as the ultimate truth. Why question the truth of someone who can't lie? Even demons declared Him the Son of God; will you doubt Him?

Closing Prayer

Father, as the evening draws near, help us to trust You completely, even when we can't see the way. For Your glory, Amen.
